I am currently marathoning Damages on various Chinese websites. I don't think it's that great, even though it's well-liked by critics and was nominated for some awards. If I had been watching this in real time on FX, I don't know if I would have tuned in every week. At a glance, the show seems very complicated because there are many different timelines, but Damages is kind of like Alias in that it is only as complicated as you want it to be. Like, in Alias, they have a lot of names and a lot of things going on, but if you choose to view each episode as "Sydney must retrieve an object and beat down anyone who gets in her way," it is simplified. Similarly, you can choose to look at Damages as "pretend everything happened in a single day" because it really doesn't matter when something happened.
I feel like Glenn Close is a cheaper version of Meryl Streep. Except Glenn Close instills a lot more fear in me. I am not really surprised by any of the twists. I can't tell if it's because I have watched too many shows with twists and I am no longer surprised, or if I paid more attention to the season recap than I thought. The show is very creepy though. Even the theme song creeps me out. I feel like I could get shot, stabbed, or run over at any second. I have learned from this show that I never want to be a witness to a high-profile case.
Between the time of starting this blog and this paragraph, I finished the season. What tv show should I watch now, while I'm in SD?! Just kidding, I should be working on cover letters. I was really wondering how the heck they would be able to write a second season, but looking at the previews, it seems like second season will be pretty cool.

Mmm baked beans
I have some favorite foods that are truly bizarre. I'm not a foodie or someone who has high tastes in food, but some of these foods really don't belong on anyone's favorite foods list. However, these are some things that I LOVE LOVE LOVE and will eat, regardless of how unhealthy it is or how disgusting it looks. This includes:

Honestly, I don't really notice what happens half the time these two have scenes together, because half the time he is shirtless, and when that happens, you can't help but stare and just COUNT ALL THE ABS HE HAS.
1) Baked beans

2) Chili
Please refer to above picture, as chili looks remarkably similar to baked beans
3) Taco Bell's Crunchy Tacos

Today my dinner consisted of microwaving leftover rice, throwing a can of Bush's baked beans into a simmering pot, and boiling a husk of corn. Sadly, I thought it was DELICIOUS. I was kind of happy with myself until I read a blog where the person was talking about having canned soup as comfort food. And I have this automatic "ew how unhealthy and lazy" reaction to canned goods. And then I realized I ATE CANNED BAKED BEANS TODAY. And as delicious as that was, I'm kind of sad now. I hope I really do learn how to cook one day. I would say that boiling corn was the closest I've come to perfecting cooking instructions. Generally, I've been able to fuck up everything else. Also, today was the first time I ever opened a can. I remember in high school, Johnston tried to teach me how to open a can, but we both got exasperated after one try.
I've sat on my ass for the past two days studying. It actually kind of hurts because my seat doesn't have a good cushion. If I didn't know better, I would have thought I spent an hour doing lunges. I don't really know if I actually learned anything. I can say that now I am ADDICTED to Lipstick Jungle, which is what I watch every few hours. I have a draft of an entry solely about Lipstick Jungle that I wrote yesterday, but didn't post because it would have been my third post of the day. I will post it one day when I have nothing to say. But if you want a quick reason for why I am watching the show, it is because of THIS

Honestly, I don't really notice what happens half the time these two have scenes together, because half the time he is shirtless, and when that happens, you can't help but stare and just COUNT ALL THE ABS HE HAS.
His IMDB profile says he went to UCSD. SO THERE WAS AT LEAST ONE person out there in UCSD who is insanely hot.
SO MUCH READING! MIDTERM OF MY MOST IMPORTANT CLASS OF MY LIFE TOMORROW (my first accounting class, which will be the only accounting grade I have on my transcript when I apply for internships). But ... I think I'll go to Rasputin and look for music.

Enough is Enough
It's season premiere time on television, which is one of my favorite times of the year. I know that I spend way too many hours of my life watching television, but I always want more. MORE, damnit! It's very hard for me to quit a show, but I think there are a few that I just have to give up on. They're like the boyfriend (I never had and) cannot break up with. Times started off well and I was surprised by how much I loved the show. They would make me feel emotion, give me something to look forward to in the week, give me something to talk about with my friends. I'd spend my days thinking about it, and when they went on hiatus, I'd feel sad, like I lost a major part of my life. But then there comes a point when you start thinking, "this isn't really quite the same as it used to be ... and I don't really like where any of this is heading."
And the show will disappoint you. You don't laugh as much as you used to or you just stop caring as much. But every time you're JUST ABOUT to say enough is enough, it reels you back in! It'll do something unexpected (Izzie likes George! Derek gets a new girlfriend! Hiro's dad dies! Kristen Bell on Heroes!" or something that reminds you of the old times (Good music! Cristina and Meredith! Hot people! Sylar being kickass!) and you think to yourself "hey, maybe it'll get better if I just wait it out."
But then it'll return to the same level of crap, and in a moment of clarity, you say ENOUGH. You quit watching, and it feels weird at first, like there's a void in an hour of your day. A few weeks will go by, you'll think it's ok. But then you'll hear news about the show. A rumor here or there about what the show is up to. A new cast member with the show?! A new relationship that has sprung up?! And then suddenly you're finding yourself checking up on it, reading tv recaps and looking at tv sites to see how it's doing. AND THEN. YOU'RE BACK IN. Hook, line, and sinker.
But at a certain point, there's only so much crap I can take. And even if I might miss out on those few seconds of greatness, I'd rather invest my time in something else. So, I'm saying goodbye to Grey's Anatomy and goodbye to Heroes. And if you piss me off, Brothers & Sisters and Dirty Sexy Money, you'll be next too.

If only it didn't suck
I'm watching Cashmere Mafia right now and as much as I want to like it, it's really REALLY hard to. There are so many ridiculous, illogical things in the show, and there are so many stupid lines. I keep holding out for a good episode because almost no show starts off strong. The people in the show are good actors and everyone is likable, which makes me wish the show wouldn't be so crappy. They all seem so nice! Let them act. I say it's the fault of the writers, the clothing stylists, and the music supervisors.
One of the points of the show, which will probably be repeated over and over again, is how hot, sexy women get away with more mistakes than men. I think it's supposed to be like "look how unfair the business world is when we sexualize/objectify women" and inspire more equality or something. My reaction is sadly more of a "omg I really need to learn how to slut myself up while remaining somewhat classy, so I can get ahead in the world."
AND AGHHH there's a scene with Bonnie Somerville right now and all I can stare at is how her giant ass earring is pulling on her earlobe. I feel like her ear is about to rip in half any second. Can't ... look away.
OMG AHHHHH It's 20 minutes later and now Miranda Otto is only in her underwear and AHHH RIBS EVERYWHERE. She breathed in and suddenly I was staring at this enclave in her body.
I'd probably have more to say if I weren't distracted with actual AIM conversations. Chatting with people makes blogging seem a lot less interesting.
I'm starting to feel STRESSED. Sometimes I hate being a club officer. I don't enjoy responsibility.
To do tomorrow: Go through all e-mails, read, shop with Erica, write down banned foods, make a super unbreakable diet plan

Something to watch in a day
I swear, there's always a good television show to watch. Even for someone like me, who seems to watch everything already. In the summer, I wanted to kill myself but I kept finding new shows (Brothers and Sisters, Friday Night Lights, How I Met Your Mother). Sunday and Monday were deathly boring days. If presented with the possibility of going back to school right now, I think I might take it. Tuesday was more of the same internet browsing and minesweeping, only I picked up on a new show at nighttime.
Kitchen Confidential!

I do remember hearing good reviews and angry WTFs when the show was not renewed. There are several familiar faces (Bradley Cooper of Alias, Nicholas Brendon of Buffy, and John Cho of assorted stupid movies) and I know there are awesome guest stars coming my way (Michael Vartan). This show is PERFECT because they only have 13 episodes, which I can easily watch in a day or two (as proven by my 30 rock marathon only a few months ago) BUT I won't be wasting homework time on it because there are no more episodes tempting me in the future.
Process of finding Kitchen Confidential: Being really bored, wanting to get a haircut, wondering what hairstyle I would want, browsing through pictures of random Hollywood girls, going to abc.com for pictures of Emily Vancamp, getting distracted by a picture of Bonnie Somerville, reading an interview of hers where she was promoting Kitchen Confidential, searching for Kitchen Confidential episodes, finding all 13 episodes on hulu.com, jaw dropping as I realized ALL full episodes were online FREE, celebrating, and watching with glee.
I love hulu. I wish all shows were posted here.

HOW AWESOME. IS THAT? You can CHOOSE the clip you want to start it on. HOW. SEXY.

Things I'd want in my future home
The title is really what this post is about but something more important came up in the 20 seconds after I decided to write a new post.
I FUCKING MISSED FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.
There are SO FEW shows now that actually have new episodes running, and the programming schedule is completely messed up and the last new episodes are almost never the intended mid-season finales, so I can't tell if there are new episodes coming up or not. Which is why I effing missed Friday Night Lights today. I realized this at 10:20, and the episode would have started at 9pm. ARGH. Ok, yes, I only have to wait until tomorrow morning to watch it, but STILL. WHY was I browsing the internet when there was TV to be watched?! *throws shoe at tv*
Anyway. So I'm back from a week at UCSD. Sunday until Friday. It was fun, but I'm happy to be home and I now realize that stays over 3-4 days are overextended. My eyes hurt because I spent a lot of the break just watching shows online and then playing this beyond addicting game. I finally beat it after about two days of playing. The congratulations screen was not all that rewarding, but I'll take what I can get. I want to find more online games to play. Minesweeper is growing old. Although I'm not sure if getting into games is the best route for the beginning of the new semester.
Oh dang. I realized that I didn't do my monthly "20 Things" at the beginning of January. Although, I haven't ever done it on the first day of the month, so whatever.
I like this song. The video is not great but I'm sure most people will end up watching it anyway. I enjoy quick montages of images when it's well-done (ie. not too fast and ending with some horribly stupid catchphrase that flashes) but they don't even go to the rhythm of the song. Match the song to the pictures when you make a video!
Did you try reading that while simultaneously trying to watch the video? And then did you keep getting distracted by the images of Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring? I know you did.
Ok. Is that enough random thoughts? Most people's posts seem to be about this long, but I haven't even cracked the surface of mine yet.
I went out with Eric, Jackie and Alvin and now it's 3:18am and I will no longer begin this post of "things I'd want in my future home." You guys are all dying to find out, huh? Maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow I will go to the library and see if I can salvage the remains of my brain.

What a little bitch
We tried to make plans for Christmas. Sadly, all we could think of were: sit around and drink. Plans to go to Disneyland crumbled once we all thought about what we would rather do with $66. What DO people do on holidays?

Ok, kids are cute
I'm freaking bored right now but I'm also too lazy to get up and shower so I was browsing through strangers' blogs and someone had blogged about going to Disneyworld with her kid and there were some pictures and OMG SO CUTE.
Right now I am
Looking at:
Girl seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time. The whole set is actually really cute to look at. And I laughed at the notes on Snow White. If I were a parent, I'd hope to get some pictures like these and frame them. Or maybe by that time, I'll just upload them onto a hologram. (I don't think I've ever used that word so I had to look it up on dictionary.com and I wrote holograph at first before changing it. The definition made absolutely no sense to me. More proof that I'm not really that smart)
Listening to:
Iron and Wine - The Trapeze Swinger
I was watching In Good Company with Johnston yesterday and this was the last song and it was pretty. I didn't even feel like it was nine minutes. I didn't bring my computer back for break, so the only music I have is on my iPod. My little iPod shuffle that contains about 80 songs. I'm hoping I don't grow to hate the songs by January 21st.
Wanting to:
Boo. Danny is leaving for Japan tomorrow so I don't think we will be watching How I Met Your Mother for a long time. We're on second season and Eric and Danny were already laughing super hard at the two weaker episodes of the season. I cannot wait to see their reaction to Slap Bet.
Fun memory notes:
- I'm sad because I don't think I can drink ANYTHING with a drop of alcohol in it without turning red. Johnston made some drinks with Bailey's Irish cream and I still turned red. Tears. I thought fat people could drink MORE alcohol
- Decision to order a tempura ice cream while Danny and Eric ate sushi = best idea ever
- Telling my dad I needed a ride to Danny's while exiting Tasty Garden. "Where is it?" "Over there" *points to street which is literally a block away* "THERE?! You could just walk there!" "Fine I'll walk there then" "No no! I'll give you a ride."
- Getting picked up from Johnston's house by Danny, Eric, Regina and Connie Y. which was the loudest car ride I've had in a long time. Lots of screaming. Lots of yelling. Mostly Danny going "LIAR! LIAR!" to Connie and me going "FUCKER! FUCK YOU!" to Danny.
- Danny driving down Michilinda, apparently so we could look at Christmas lights but most of us didn't know where we were headed. So that lead to "Danny ... where are we going?" "To look at Christmas lights!" "WHAT?! I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO IN N OUT. WTF"
- Danny stopping on a hill to look at the LA city lights. Him and Eric were sitting in the front quietly while the girls were talking in the back when Danny was like "WTF. Why are the guys looking at Christmas lights and the girls just talking?!"
- In N Out. Enough said.
I'm not in this picture. Because I don't wish to be stalked. HA. Actually I'm sure I've given enough information to be found by a complete stranger.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
I just got home from a 7 hour road trip from Berkeley to Arcadia. I'm ready to just crawl into bed and sleep. It's ridiculously cold in my house. Maybe I should have brought the really warm socks that Alvin bought me last year. I would blog about the last few days but I think I'm too tired to really make it exciting. Highlights:
- Getting everyone to love How I Met Your Mother. It's so gratifying to hear Eric's loud, full laughter when he really likes a joke. It's even more insane to see Danny laugh his silent laugh, and actually pause the episode just to stop and laugh at the line. He was always extremely willing to watch an episode whenever we wanted, which makes me think WOW he must really really like it because he would even stop his episode of Firefly to just watch HIMYM when we wanted
- Eating Cafe Intermezzo Marinated Tofu sandwich as my last meal. Yay to me for not getting something from Cafe Durant and going over to Cafe Intermezzo instead. It was delicious and made a great last Berkeley meal of the year. I now love their tofu sandwiches again. I just have to get less mustard
- Deciding to go swimming at 11:00 in the morning and worrying that they would wake up before I got home to take them to breakfast. I got home at 12:45. They woke up at 2:30
- Totally messing up my sleep schedule by sleeping at 5:45am last night, waking up at 6:45, taking Alvin to the airport, and then resuming sleep from 8:30. When I woke up I thought it was late, late afternoon, possibly 3:00. It turned out to be 10:30
- The boys getting insane food cravings while watching HIMYM last night, during which they tore through all five bags of chips, 4 laughing cow cheeses, and a bunch of cereal and granola
- On the way to Alvin's, we went downstairs, discovered it was raining, decided to not get an umbrella, which was only 3 flights of stairs away, walked through campus and ended up getting extremely wet.
- Playing Bang and now I actually recognize the symbols. Danny is a very strategic player
OMG It's insanely cold. I'm starting to shiver. Purpose of this entry: I came home and started going through the sites that I check up on. I wanted to see what movies are out in Arcadia (I want to watch Juno and Atonement) when I saw a trailer for Forgetting Sarah Marshall. OMG I did not know Jason Segel was in this movie. <3 him. Although the guy who plays Kristen Bell's second boyfriend looks too much like Justin Bobby from The Hills

I should write e-mails to my mom
I never noticed before but I actually really enjoy reading my mom's emails. The e-mail I got today:
Melissa,
Do you need any food? Let me know ASAP. Don't forget to visit new doctor for 1st time. One reason is to eatablish your new "account"? (what's the other proper term) with new doctor. You don't want when emergency happens and there 's no record in their office. So go today or tomorrow. Just tell them you fell you need X-ray. They will send you to the lab. Your doctor visit co-payment is $5 only. No fees for lab. Don't get ripped off. Bye. Take care!
Today is the first day of finals! But not for me. It's finals for all the freshmen who take Chem1A or Math1A, which is just about every freshman who didn't grow up detesting math or science. It's really weird because when I walk down the hall, it's really empty and I know it's because everyone is sitting in some giant room right now, writing away.
I also keep saying "midterms" instead of finals, because I really don't feel like the semester is over. Partly because I don't feel like I've actually learned anything from half of my classes. And also because I'm not itching for school to end. I actually want it to be next semester already. Right now I'm in the state of mind like "OMG I totally have to work my ass off next semester. I'm going to be a work whore" but by the time winter break ends I'm going to be like "ugh school? Why do I have to work?" Also, I feel like there's not really a goal GPA to get. Obviously, I can't flunk all my classes because that would reflect poorly on my resume. But then, I don't feel like it's completely necessary to get straight A's to get a job. Although maybe I do if I want to work for a big4. But still, this is the first time in a long time that I'm not super stressed about grades or really worried about doing well. I think I need to fool myself into thinking that I will be unemployable unless I get straight A's from here on out.
Time to gym. Chrystal freaked out about getting fat yesterday. Whenever people freak out, I freak out too because then I'm like OH NO someone in the world think they're fat! I need to get thin too. I am also unfortunately wearing my fat underwear today, which gives me stomach fat rolls. Something to do with how high it is and how it pinches my stomach. Unfun. I usually save that underwear for days when I feel thin, so the next day I'm like "yes, there is still more you can do to lose weight." But yesterday I just grabbed it out my drawer without thinking. Sigh sigh. Must work out!
Crazy idea I had: When I feel hungry, I go to the gym! Because after I exercise, I always feel like I don't feel like eating. Flaws in the plan? I THINK NOT.
Finally - this is like the entry of misc thoughts - I'm now hooked on a show. Aliens in America! It's a 30min comedy on the CW. I know: THE CW? WTF!? Unless the show is named Veronica Mars, it couldn't possibly be good right? Surprisingly WRONG. Aliens in America is HILARIOUS. I laughed out loud a LOT at the first episode I watched. It's really well-written and has really really good music. There is also an absurdly normal number of Asian people on the show. I'm not someone who goes WE NEED MORE ASIANS ON TV. ASIAN POWER but when it does happen, it's like WOW. A show that's not only white people. *cough* the oc *cough* This is the first episode I watched. You all HAVE to watch it because finals are over for most of you, and for those who still have finals, you need a break.
Click here for a good time
I know there's a bunch of lazy people out there who won't click on a LINK so from the very sparse collection of youtube videos:

Bonnie Somerville is ONE person!
WOW. All this time I thought that Bonnie Somerville, the girl from Friends, and Bonnie Somerville, the girl who sings that song on the Garden State soundtrack, and Bonnie Somerville, the girl who is on Cashmere Mafia, were all different people. Mainly because I didn't assume that she would sing and act at the same time, and I thought Bonnie Somerville from Friends had stopped acting. But it's THE SAME person! And my astonishment at this was enough to warrant a post.
Yeah ... I don't know why someone thought it was necessary to make a video about Thomas the Engine. I ... guess you could say the winding road is the winding track Thomas choo choos along. But I like the song and I don't have the time to search for a better video so this is what you can watch.
I think I would really enjoy Cashmere Mafia. It totally looks like my type of show, doesn't it.
Now back to demography. I'm doing old homework problems, now with the help of the answer key that the professor put out. Sometimes I'm like "oh good I know how to do this now" and other times I'm like "OMG if I had only known how to do this earlier, I wouldn't have gotten a C on that homework assignment."
Also, I realized today that one of my friends was in college when I was still in middle school. Isn't that BIZARRE? I love having older people as my friends - I find them more fun for some reason. But I wonder how I'd feel if I had a friend who was much younger than me, and who sometimes accidentally said things like "HAHA YOU'RE OLD!"

My eyes my eyes
I've been studying economics since 11:00 this morning. It's now 9:00 at night. I have only gotten up to go gymming, during which I took a stack of lecture notes to read while on the elliptical. I didn't go swimming and I haven't watched any tv shows or videos today. I have browsed a few websites here and there, but since it's the weekend, nothing is updated anyway. I've spent a lot of time going through my iTunes, clicking next next next and occasionally rediscovering a song that I love. But all in all ... it's been nearly 10 hours of staring at ONE FUCKING TEST.
I'm also really super fat. Ever since Thanksgiving, I have been eating kind of randomly and exercising far less than usual. The thing is that I exercise more than a lot of people, so I don't feel guilty about it. I think I have to realize that I need to exercise a lot more just to stay the size other people are without trying. Chrystal doesn't do any form of exercise, naps all day, and gorges on fattening food just about every day, but she went home for Thanksgiving and was told she looked thinner. *curses the heavens*
My entire meal today consisted of:
Breakfast - cup of hot chocolate (it comes out of a machine where you just push a button and it comes out of a tube. I think it's really bizarrely fast food-ish, but deceivingly tasty), 1 pancake, 1 grapefruit, 1 orange, some scrambled eggs, 1 English muffin with butter
"Meals" After - Apple, Cinnamon Twist bread, 1 Laughing Cow Cheese with crackers, grapes, small mozerrella fresca sandwich
If you think that's a lot, tell me so I can reduce my meals. Otherwise, I look at that, and because most of them can't qualify as meals, I think that it's fairly little food. Yet, I just looked at my stomach and HOLYCRAP it's effing huge. My period better come soon.
I don't know if I want to subject myself to another economics final, start a demography practice final, or just sit and stare at the ceiling. I don't really want to gym again. The cold attacks me when I go outside.
I can tell my body size is going to go downhill very very soon. I've already used up the "backup thinness" that I had from post-Thanksgiving. I probably won't be able to lose as much weight as I'd like before the boys come up to Berkeley (if they do). Once they're here, I will have to take them to all the delicious foods Berkeley has to offer, which will knock me off my diet of spinach leaves and fruit. I also won't be able to exercise. Then we'll be off to Lake Tahoe, where we will eat god knows what, and our only exercise will be tredging through snow. Once we come home from that, it's eating out in Arcadia and stuffing myself with my mother's cooking. Then, if I visit colleges, it's more random eating. Then I'll be back in Berkeley, New Year's will have passed, so the motivation to follow a diet resolution will have passed, and I'll be super fat.
Sometimes it sucks to know myself so well.
One of the infuriating things about Grey's Anatomy is that Meredith Grey knows she can't commit to a relationship. So every time something goes wrong, she blames it on that. But she never actually changes her behavior (although that's changing ever so slowly in recent episodes) because she just goes "I'm dark and twisty inside and that cannot change." It's annoying because you look at that and as a viewer, you think "well if you know what's wrong with you, just change it dumbass!" But I guess if I know what my diet pitfalls will be, and I just let that happen, then I have no reason to hate on Meredith Grey.
Isn't it fun how I can connect tv to my life?

Waiting for inspiration to kick in
Wow. My stomach is the largest it's been for at least a month. This is depressing. I was supposed to start eating healthier starting December 1st, sort of like an early resolution. Instead:
Day 1: Ate a hamburger and french fries
Day 2: Ate a pesto calzone from Gypsy's, so it's like I ate a baby-sized pocket of cheese
I was also supposed to finish my essay today, but I only wrote a paragraph. I don't know what I did this entire day, because I didn't feel like I wasted the entire day. I just don't have anything to show for 12 hours of being awake.
I find it amazing that more than half of the video is out of sync, yet all the movements correspond with whoever is talking. As in, when one character speaks for a long time, their lips never match up to the words, but when the next character speaks/moves, it happens exactly as it did on the show. Bizarre. I wish I knew how to upload videos of shows. I'd waste so much more of my time on youtube. But then I'd probably get sued for copyright infringement.

Things I want to do
I don't really feel like working but I'll allow myself only twenty minutes to blog before I absolutely must do work. Anyway, I don't really have very much work to do now, and there are only about THREE sessions left for each of my classes. How bizarre. You expect to have half a semester to go after Thanksgiving break, but it's actually only two weeks! Eek. If you asked me what I've learned this semester, I couldn't tell you. I don't know what's going on in most of my classes. I actually don't think I've learned anything from demography. No lie.
So I actually have quite a bit of extra time that I just squander away. I'm getting in those "boo I wish I were able to do this" moodswings, which happens from time to time. I'm also in a "I'm a fatass and all I want to do is eat junk food and sit in my room all day" mood but thankfully my floormate forces me to go swimming, so I haven't gained too much weight.
1) Surf
I think I tell everyone this. Sometimes I wish I had gone to a beach school so that I could have taken surfing classes. I'm sure that's not a good reason to choose a college though. I need to a) learn how to drive freeway so I can actually get to the beach b) buy a surfboard c) buy a wetsuit d) find a surfing instructor, a really good friend who knows how to surf, or a (hot) nice guy on the beach who will teach me (and love me)
2) Knit
I just need to buy whatever it is people use to knit (yarn? thread? clearly I know nothing) and some knitting needles. And then learn how to knit. Imagine how many articles of clothing I could have made by now, if I just knit while watching tv. Goodness.

3) Make crafty things
Why can't I make cute little things like this?
I want to be a Martha Stewart. Without the orange jumpsuit. But imagine all the things you could do if you were crafty! This is one of those really idealistic dreams though because I can hypothetically knit and I can surf but I don't think any amount of effort could erase the fugly I put into artsy things. Seriously, I don't think I've ever been able to make anything that looked cute and proportionally correct. Just look at my drawings.
4) Cook
Even though I do not have a kitchen. Although I could totally just go downstairs and cook, the cleanliness of that communal kitchen is really questionable. I wish I could make this though
Mmm. and even Asian foods. It would be awesome if I could make my own sushi. I'd end up eating so much raw fish though, I'd just die of mercury poisoning.
Eff, it's 10:00. Do I even wish I could do anything else?
4) Make friends in my classes
I guess it's too late now, since there's only a week and a half left of school. I'm happy with the friends I have now, but sometimes I look around the classroom and I'm like "boo I kind of wish I knew that person better, he/she looks interesting." I also wish I had been more friendly at the beginning of school in my dorm, but now it seems kind of awkward. "Hi! I never spoke to you for four months even though we lived together, but let's be friends"
Homework time!
HAAAA awesome. Kristen Bell's "damn this shit" face before she gets out of the car is so Veronica Mars
Also, HOW MANY times do I have to rave about How I Met Your Mother before people WATCH IT?! If it gets cancelled, I will be very unhappy

2 Heroes fall...
Eek! One more episode of Heroes before the writers' strike takes effect. I heard that the Office has already run out of episodes. I wonder what I'm going to do for winter break when everyone else has gone to school. Maybe I'll have a Buffy marathon with myself. Or do something productive with my life.
Tonight's episode of Heroes was actually kind of boring, when I think about it. Best moment: Kristen Bell with the slurpie in the car. I laughed. And then I remembered why I heart Kristen Bell so much. And then I laughed again. I'm half disappointed that this episode wasn't as good, but I'm also glad I'm not getting so hooked that the lack of episodes after December 3rd will pain me. I'm also kind of glad that I won't have so much tv to watch on Mondays. I never realize that I have two hours of tv to watch on Mondays, because I always forget The Hills is on. And then when Heroes ends, I'm always like "how can I procrastinate? OH WAIT! Episode of Hills! YES!"
The preview for Heroes claims two heroes will fall. I'm hoping this means they actually die, rather than fall twenty stories and then heal themselves. I'm excited. I think the intention of the promo is to have viewers go "oh no! Who will it be?!" but I'm pretty sure that everyone responds with "thank god, now we can clean out a bit of the cast."
I already had a "who would I kill from Heroes" post but if I had to choose TWOOO...
1) Peter Petrelli in a heartbeat. I think he's become not only really stupid but also a giant pussy this season. I hate when "good guys" blindly follow the word of some character who is obviously very fishy and untrustworthy. I think it was all those seasons of Alias that made me this way. The only reason a character (ex. Sydney Bristow) should listen to the bad guy (ex. Sloan) is when the bad guy has gone through the trouble of setting up a fake CIA agency, fools just about everyone that works for him, and makes even the viewers uncertain about whether he's really good or evil for the entire running of the series. Otherwise, you're just being a dumbass.
2) This is where it gets hard. There are too many. After today's episode, I'd actually like to kill off that fat black kid who doesn't have any powers, but we don't see much of him anyway, so that'd be wasting a kill. I actually wasn't sure if that kid was a guy or a girl until today. Fat kids with dreadlocks are really hard to identify gender.
- West (I'm not even sure if this is his name): Oh new kid. I hate you. I also can't tell the difference between you and Lyle, until Claire starts macking out with you and then I'm like "ok, probably not Lyle the brother." His blind love for Claire is also kind of annoying. I mean, I heart Hayden Panettiere too but gross, grow a pair.
- Hiro: I think it would actually be really sad if he died because I imagine his death scene would make me tear up. It would probably involve some slow motion and his sword and his last words being something like "Ando. I am sorry I have failed you. I love you" and Ando going "You are a true warrior. I love you too, Hiro my best friend and also lover." But I wouldn't want him to die because I'm actually hoping he kills Peter. HEHE! Stab him in the head!
- Mohinder: Is he even a hero? He's more of an annoying idiot who just blurts out secret plans because he has no idea what to do. Also, that nose bandage is not doing him any favors because it only makes him look more pathetic and I keep imagining myself punching him there.
But actually, I think Matt wins the death vote. He's not particularly connected with any of the characters, so he can't even further any storylines. He's extremely annoying and I hate that face he makes when he reads minds. It's like a "wait what is that I smell?" look.
Also, is it just me or have none of the older past heroes used any of their powers? Maybe it runs out at a certain age.
AGH! I haven't been reading economics. Sigh. What a boring ass chapter I'm reading.

Yes, another post
Somehow, when I think "must study economics" my brain translates that into "must watch tv, read recaps, and surf the web." I went on thetvaddict.com and saw two entries that just distracted me.
First, How I Met Your Mother. HAHA SO GOOD. I can't decide which video clip to put on. HAHA omg this might be my favorite show that's currently on. Let me think about this (runs through all tv shows) ... yes. Because Friday Night Lights has one stupid storyline, I will let How I Met Your Mother take the coveted place of #1 show.
Second, there was a post about which Heroes characters need to die. Which then got me thinking: how would I change the shows I watch? The post I linked is actually very spot on and has exactly what I'm thinking. Only, I'd kill more people.
Heroes: Kill Mohinder for sure. I hate him, he's extremely annoying because he messes with the characters I love, and I don't find him attractive at all, so he can't even earn points in that department. Kill the little girl, Molly because she's not a cute child actor, and if you're not a cute child actor, you shouldn't be on tv. Kill Matt Parkman, even though Greg Grunberg seems really nice. Put him on some other show where he's not ultra-annoying and a big wimp. Kill Peter Petrelli because he's been dragging down the entire Petrelli storyline. Kill that Irish chick he's with too. Obviously, kill the Mexican twins because I'm really tired of reading subtitles. As sad as I am to say this, kill Nikki/Jessica/whoever because even though Ali Larter is kick-ass, her character honestly goes nowhere. I'm pretty sure the writers had no idea what they wanted to do with her character when they started. Kill Wes, because he's really creepy, not cute, and I totally bust up laughing when he tried to dramatically say "Mr. Butler! What are you doing?" which is not the reaction you're supposed to have. Kill Hiro and Ando too, because their storylines go nowhere and Hiro is just really annoying. I can't believe he was nominated for an Emmy. Just because he speaks a foreign language doesn't make him a great actor! Everyone's probably too busy reading the subtitles to realize he is not that great.
This leaves: Claire's family, Elle (LOVE Kristen Bell - she is the only reason I continue to watch this show), Nathan Petrelli and his mom, Sylar (must have a bad guy), Bob (must have a second bad guy where you're not 100% sure whether he's really good or bad), and oh wow there aren't many characters left. As it SHOULD BE. Notice that these are all the characters that have some connection to each other, while everyone else is just RANDOM. *tears out hair*
How I Met Your Mother: AWESOME! Unnecessary to change.
The Hills: Make it less obvious that this show is fake. More Whitney! Less Heidi and Spencer. I wouldn't say kill them off though, because these are real people.
30 Rock: Also awesome. Interesting that my two favorite shows are comedies this year. Usually they're really angsty dramas with a bunch of sex in them.
The Office: No killing off people but ... less Michael I think. Also, less Ryan because he's so unlikable. Needs more interesting Jim/Pam storylines without making some conflict in their relationship. I can't imagine how this would happen though, but if anyone could think of it, it would be the writers of The Office. More Kelly, oh my god I effing love Kelly.
Grey's Anatomy: Sorry, but kill off Izzy. Just kidding. You can't kill someone that pretty. And it would make too much of a ruckus if they killed off George, after the whole Isaiah Washington thing. Just kill their relationship! Somehow. Actually, there is no somehow. There are SO MANY ways to just end the relationship but the writers aren't DOING any of that. Why must they torture me so?
Survivor: I don't think I can watch this anymore. The writing this season was really bad - they haven't really given us a character to root for, and the one the writers seem to like the most is actually really unlikable and seems to be a jackass. Part of me wonders if the writers do this to see if America is smart enough to figure out a person's true personality. And then part of me wonders if the writers are really just that stupid.
OH MY GOD it's 12:40 I have to sleep AHHHHH

Salmon and Taquitos
One of the many reasons why I'm convinced I will never have children is that I always thought I'd be too selfish to properly raise a kid. I guess I'm lucky to have really giving parents and to have the view of parents as selfless people. I'm sure other people in the world aren't nearly that lucky. Anyway, my parents always give me whatever I want, and even if they aren't too excited to do it, if I really want it, they'll let me do it. Usually "do it" means "buy it." They always give me the best food on the table, although I wonder if this is also just being Chinese. My mom even claimed that I could date a black guy, if that's who I really love, but I was just asking her for amusement's sake. Her reaction, by the way, was awesome, but I can't write it on a public website.
There are a lot of traits that my mom has that I will make fun of her about, and her usual response is "you know, one day you'll probably be doing the same things too. I used to make fun about my mom about these same things, and now I'm doing them." It's true too. My mom will wear underwear that NEEDS to be thrown out - there's so many holes in them. She said her mom used to do this too, and she'd be like "Ew! Who does that?" Skip forward to me. I decided not to bring any holey underwear to college THIS year, but really, sitting in my cabinet at home are some underwear that can never see the light of day. Luckily for me, we got so many "Victoria Secret Free Panties!" in the mail over the summer that I now have new underwear.
Anyway, today I realized that if I had kids, I might actually not be so selfish. I had a club event today, and it was catered. Delicious food - omg salmon with some sort of spread on something that resembled a bagel chip - BEST THING EVER. I wish I had found out what it really was, so I could make it. There were taquitos and some other mexican appetizers. Really awesome dessert platters, but sadly, they were gone really quickly. *tear* Anyway, I knew I was going to be watching tv with one of my floormates when I got home, so I got some things for her. Last year, when I went to these things, I'd grab something for Chrystal. But today, I realized OMG I'm my mom. Swiping little desserts from work events to bring home. AHHHH
I haven't reached that point where I would give up ANYTHING for my kid though. Like on Friday Night Lights, Kyle Chandler gives up his dream job of coaching college football to go back to his family. I was like "omg WHAT" and I honestly don't get it. It's his DREAM job. And to go back to his family, he has to return to a HIGH SCHOOL coaching position. That is some serious backtracking. Maybe I'm just naive or I just don't know what it means to be in love, but I've always thought, I've spent nearly the past decade trying to make it in college to get the job I want. I don't think I would give up a job I've worked to get just to ... move somewhere to be with someone. Or refuse a promotion because my kid didn't want to leave his/her friends. Oh well, not something I have to worry about.

5 things I dislike that the general public loves
1. Baths
I know this supposed to make you feel relaxed, but it's sitting in your own dirty water! I don't think I could bear just sitting in water, doing nothing. I wouldn't read because more often than not, I fall asleep while reading, so I'd end up with a soggy book. You get your skin all wrinkly, and eventually, the water is not going to be warm. It also shows you how much water you waste just to "relax" which would make me feel guilty. If I ever wanted to relax in water, I'd just sit on a stool in the shower.
2. Holidays
Boo holidays, as in the holidays where all the stores and restaurants shut down. Veteran's day was just yesterday, and I really hated that day (even though it was Frances' birthday, Happy Birthday!). I walked over to the dining commons - closed. I walked around the streets looking for a store to shop in - closed. Post office - closed (the one time I ever need to send something, of course). I wanted to eat out that day, but most restaurants - closed. I wasn't even sure if Trader Joe's was open or not, so I went on Sunday instead. And this wasn't even Thanksgiving or Christmas, this was Veteran's Day! I feel like I've been cut off from civilization. And why do they close everything anyway? What are they expecting us to do on our day off? Sit around at home? Blech.
3. Vacations
Kind of like holidays. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up being one of those people who store up vacation days and just get paid for them instead. So much more useful. I can't stand vacations. If I have work to do, it makes me more stressed because I'm constantly thinking about how I can't do any of it. If I don't have work, I end up thinking about what I COULD be doing, if I weren't on vacation. I don't like to travel anyway, at least for pleasure, so it's not like I'm wishing for a trip to Europe or something. I just like to be at home, or preferably at work, where I can make money. I have vacations everyday anyway, when I sit in front of the tv/computer for hours and hours.
4. Souvenirs
Ugh souvenirs. So ugly and so useless and so expensive. I hate little things with the name of some city on them. Which is funny because I have a shot glass collection, but I've stopped buying those. If I ever DID go on a vacation, I'd just take a bunch of pictures but I wouldn't ever buy a souvenir. They're only useful if you go on a LOT of vacations and you buy a LOT of souvenirs and then it becomes kind of cute. Otherwise, it's like a random piece of useless thing sitting around the house.
5. Fresh mountain air
Maybe I've been going to the wrong mountains, but to me, fresh mountain air smells like dusty dryness. Whenever I go to the mountains, I can practically smell the flammability in the air. I feel like at any second, some leaves are going to catch on fire and I'll suddenly be in the middle of a massive wildfire.
In more "and about my day..." news, I recently rewatched a bunch of How I Met Your Mother episodes, which I do randomly. Every time I have one of these little HIMYM marathons, I end up putting two songs on repeat: Nada Surf - Inside of Love and Bloc Party - This Modern Love. Freaking good songs. I read that the first season doesn't seem that great until you watch it again later. It's so true. It's one of those shows that age REALLY well. I think that you end up liking all the characters so much that you feel like you actually know them, so rewatching episodes feels like reminsicing or something. Is it scary to think of fictional characters as real people? It's because I have no friends.Eek! Frances just said "see you next week!" I can't believe Thanksgiving is so soon. Last year, I had a list of home foods to eat weeks before, and I was already planning what to do that weekend. Maybe the novelty of going home is wearing off. Or maybe I just have no sense of time, so I haven't processed the idea of going home. Probably the latter. The bad thing is that I have nothing due before Thanksgiving, so I don't feel the crunch time. I need to finish my Haas application before Thanksgiving, and my comp sci project, even though they're not due then. Self-pressure!
I also need to pressure myself to lose weight. Sometimes I think that I really have lost weight. For sure, I have since the beginning of summer, but I'm not so sure about since the end of summer. Sometimes I feel like maybe I am hallucinating and I haven't lost as much as I really think. I think the last few times I started feeling bad about my body was when someone said some offhand comment. It probably wasn't even a "I think you're still kind of fat" comment but I think it's a mix of my sensitivity about the subject and her not knowing how she sounds when she says certain things. But wow, either my body changes really quickly, or my mind is really powerful because after that, I felt really incredibly fat and I could see it in the mirror.
When I say "I need to lose weight" I actually mean "I would like to tone up" because I know I'm not really that fat. I just want to be lean. Like the side of a cow.

Dirty Sexy Money
I saw about three positive reviews for Dirty Sexy Money yesterday, so today, I watched an episode. It was not exactly what I expected but I might keep watching it anyway. After I watched the episode, I took a nap and I had the WEIRDEST dreams ever. I don't remember what happened, but I was in a half lucid state, and I just know that I kept waking up thinking "what the hell was that?"
I think everyone in the show looks like someone else. But most people don't agree with my "hey they look like..."
Peter Krause + 15 years = Stephen Collins (I can't believe I remember his name)
William Baldwin - 15 years = Jake Gyllenhaal
There are more but I'm tired of looking for pictures. I have to admit that the main reason I wanted to watch this was because I wanted to see how they portray the ultra ultra rich spending their money. And then live vicariously through them. It's on Wednesdays at 10!

I hate Thursdays because there's too much to love
Advice: when there's three different shows simultaneously playing and you want to watch all three, just stick to ONE and watch the rest online. If you try to watch multiple shows at the same time, you WILL miss a few minutes here and there, which will just make you have to rewatch ALL of the shows anyway. I'm sitting here waiting for it to hit midnight so I can watch Grey's online. I'm not even sure if that's when they put up the episode. I vaguely remember last year that they put up new episodes at 2am or something. It's really sad that I know that fact.
As I watched a few minutes of Grey's here and there, I realized that Meredith's sister is extremely pretty. I can't think of her name at all. (Lexie) And I don't think I've ever known her real name. (Chyler Leigh) IMDB time! Either I never really noticed until now, or they upped her makeup. None of the pictures that I can find really do her justice.
From 8-8:30, there's nothing I really want to watch, but I was bored out of my mind so I watched Survivor. It got me hooked and I ended up missing parts of 30 Rock. Damn you Survivor. One tribe decided to throw a challenge so that they could keep the majority and you can tell Jeff Probst got annoyed. I read in some recaps that he gets really pissy about contestants giving up. There were a lot of hilarious one-liners in the episode. First, know that Jean-Robert is this guy that everyone absolutely hates.
Courtney: Go Jean-Robert! (to another contestant) It broke my heart a little to say that.
The other one I loved isn't funny typed out. You have to watch it. I'll be on the lookout for a clip.
There's one guy on Survivor who is giant and extremely muscular. As in, I think he has a 12pack. He wears what looks like designer underwear and when he walks around, I feel like I'm watching some weird Calvin Klein underwear ad. When he does interviews, and they have his name and occupation on the side, I always expect it to say James - Model. Instead, it says James - Gravedigger. It's really baffling.

There's also another girl who is INCREDIBLY thin. It's really freaky, considering that this is what she looks like ON CAMERA. I can't imagine what she would look like in person. You can see her spine. And a lot of other bones that probably should not be seen. I looked at her bio on cbs.com and she actually addresses her body size, as if she anticipated accusations of anorexia.

My stomach is in pain, I think because I ate hot, spicy food and right after, I ate a popsicle. Also, this computer has the red squiggly lines as I type, and I've realized that a lot of words that I use aren't actually words.
