Before you start reading, pause whatever music you have and just hit play here. Don't watch it though, there's no one pretty.
Yay! According to msn, I will have the #4 best job to have after college. The #1 is consulting, which I might do after a few years of accounting/auditing, since I hear that is what most people do. I just need to go through two years of school :(
I am torn between really wanting school to end and not wanting it to end. I thought we had four weeks of school two weeks ago, but starting THIS monday, we have four weeks of school. So in my mind, school's like twice as long now. I really hate economics, especially now that I don't get it all. I guess econ1 knowledge only takes you up to the 11th week of UGBA101b. I kind of wish I had gone to my GSI office hours, but I still don't know when they are and I don't care anymore now. I just want school to be over now so I can get my B in the class and move on. I don't feel like doing work for any of my other classes, but they are all very fun classes so it's not that painful.
On the other hand, I don't ever want the year to end. I can't believe we ONLY have FOUR weeks of school left because OMG I freaking love living with my floormates. Part of me is like "we should live with all of our friends FOREVER. Just buy a giant apartment complex!" There's still so much to do - we've had plans to go to all these different places around the Bay Area for the past three months but every day, we end up hanging out in room 306 and the study lounge and it's enough for us. And unlike high school with TMV when we went out to eat a lot, most of what we do is sitting around in someone's room so I never bring out my camera and there are not that many pictures of us. I will probably take like 500 pics when we go to Boat Dance (yay!) which is a semi-formal dance for people who live in residence halls, and it's on a ship out in the SF Bay. Should be AWWWWEEESOMEEE. And you know me, I really hate dances. I'm so happy that my floormates kept pushing me to go - I probably wouldn't have gone if Caroline didn't decide to go, but I heart my floormates for immediately saying "OK NOW YOU HAVE TO GO" instead of being like "whatever we don't care if Melissa goes." :D
And then I have RCSA friends, two of whom are like some of my closest friends and they are GRADUATING. :( My life would have been very different if I had not met Li-Ting in the beginning of freshman year, and if I had not went to the SF trip and waited at the bus stop with Angelica.
Boo the wonderful overcastness of the morning is leaving. But it's supposed to be less warm today, so yay.
Anyway, what did I even want to write about? I got distracted with nail clipping. I feel like I just have all these blogs that are like "OMG THESE PEOPLE ARE GREAT" but they don't actually have any memories in them. I guess if I'm not going to write memories, I'll just write plans.
What I want to do in the summer:
I still need to finalize my apartment and call that landlord X__X Judging by how most of my life has turned out, I'll get the apartment and realize that I've been stressing out for nothing. I still need a third roomie and I'm trying to take Jon from our floor, although it'll be stealing him from his current roommates. HEHE time to work some charm. I feel like an employer trying to steal someone from a rival company. I totally have all these visions for the summer which in my mind, will be AWEESOMEEEE.
So I get the apartment, but the landlord has said he wanted to do revonations, so I will maybe live in Alvin's place since that is the most convenient. I will work all day, make tons of money, and then every other day, go the Media Resources Center and just watch a new movie every day. Seriously, that place is fun-fucking-tastic. I realize that was not even a word. But it's two floors below the ground level of Moffitt, and it's what looks like 10 HUGE bookshelves filled from top to bottom with dvds. The DVD collection is in that link. You "borrow" one and watch it in the room adjoined to it, which is like tons and tons of booths with its own dvd player and television with headphones.
Besides that, I'm going to spend the summer getting really fit - swim, run, and exercise classes EVERY day. I swear it.
Then I'll visit my Norcal floormates on the weekends. Who lives in Nor Cal: Eric, Christine, Jon, Paulo, Joe. I really really want TMV to visit me, hopefully after I move into my actual apartment. I'd also need to start buying furniture/appliances for the apartment (EXCITING! EXPENSIVE!) and it would be like a week of feasting/fun having. Then I have summer school, where I will hopefully make lots of new Haas friends.
I'm looking forward to this summer. :)

What about the next two years
So I guess most people know I got into Haas. Which, YAY!!! But a few days ago I got an e-mail that made me go "WHAT THE FUCK?!?!" It said "Telebears for Fall 2008" and I was like what? ... and I clicked the e-mail already knowing what it would be, and I realized that I have to choose my Fall 2008 classes on April 28th.
Wow. I really have no idea what classes I want to take. Trying to get into Haas, you basically have all your classes chosen for two years. You have a little variety in the breadth courses, but a lot of people take similar ones. But the older you get in college, the more specific your classes become and ... I don't really know what I want. If I had double majored in statistics, this would be so much easier but now I'm completely on my own.
(Warning: lots of math that is unnecessary to understand) So my fall schedule is actually very easy to decide - I'm forced to take 3 classes and I'm going to look for one international studies breadth course for my fourth class, and I'm at about 13 units. My spring semester, I can take the last two business requirements and I'm done with all the required classes for Haas. Then I just have to reach 120 units and I'm completely done with all my requirements to get a degree. After I do all the core classes, I will only need 8 more units that are upper div business courses, and then only 10 more for upper div non-business courses. That would give me 5 more units than the required 120 to graduate so I know for sure I don't have to worry about finding enough courses to do that. But...
Needing only 18 more units can be taken care of with like ... maybe 4-6 classes. At the minimum, I would be able to finish all of this by the end of my junior year. At the maximum, I would be able to finish this by my senior year 1st semester, and that's if I take like ... two classes in the fall semester. So knowing that, and knowing that I have no double major ...
WHAT DO I DO FOR SPRING SEMESTER?
Actually, looking at the elective courses that Haas offers, there's a ton of things I can take, but it's if I don't mind having an entire semester full of business-y things. But I'm already kind of tired of school. I just want to graduate and start working. But, I don't think I would want to start working spring semester senior year, because I'm certain that I'll just look back and think "wow I should have just stayed in college longer." Talking randomly with Caroline, she showed me the surfboard she's planning on buying and it just reminded me of how one of my fun life goals is to learn how to surf. And learning how to surf is like ... on a ticking clock, I swear. At some point, you're too old to learn how to surf, because your body isn't that young or you have a constant job or you have a family (probably not my case) or you just don't have the time to keep up with a hobby. I feel like if I'm to invest in a $600 surfboard, I would want to be at the beach EVERY DAY.
So Caroline was like "I want to go to Peru and surf there" and I was like WHOA that sounds SOOO COOL. I would totally want to go to Peru (ok maybe not exactly Peru but somewhere with a nice surfing area) and just do nothing but surf. So for a day, I was like "YES THIS is what I want to do spring semester!" But then I realized ... a semester is a LONG ass time. For some reason I was thinking it's like a month. But it's like ... four months. So realizing that, I was like ummm nm.
Writing this entry was actually very helpful for me. At the beginning I was like "OMG I have so many choices I don't know what to do!" But after rationalizing, I already know what I'm going to do. I'm just going to take classes and not graduate early because there are tons of classes that I could take and probably have to take to be an auditor/accountant. There's Intermediate Financial Accounting, and Advanced Financial Accounting! Then Federal Income Tax Accounting, then Auditing, and THEN Special Topics in Accounting! I'm not even really being 100% sarcastic - a lot of these classes look very interesting. Plus I really like Berkeley and would enjoy staying for four years, I think. But when will I learn to surf? Summer of senior year? Hmm. I guess if I do get a good job, I'll feel financially stable enough to blow everything I have for the summer before the beginning of the rest of my life.
I'm very tired right now. I haven't even gone running! It's 9:30. Is that a dangerous time to run? My large stomach says "no, you can run anytime you want"

20 more things because I love typing
I've somehow came home at 8:00, only to sit at my computer for 3 hours, watching Buffy and Veronica Mars. My legs are sore from inactivity. I wonder how I will react when I see myself in the mirror tomorrow, especially after Souplantation. I would love to be ready for bikini season by spring break, so I better start doing actual situps and crunches. Which I never do. Well, I'll kill some more time and then I can go take a shower and sleep at the insanely early hour of 11:30 pm. What wild weekends I have. Well, tomorrow will be all work.
1. I actually don't really have 20 more fascinating things to say about myself, so I think this will be more like 20 really specific things I want in my future house, since I am looking for apartments right now.
2. Close to a good gym
3. I probably care most about how the kitchen looks, which is funny because I don't even cook.
4. I next care about how the bathroom looks, I think because there's a lot you can do to make a bathroom look good, but if a bathroom looks bad it just makes your entire house look unkept
5. Matching sets of plates, cups, utensils ... I would hate to have mismatched cups which is why I was very reluctant to buy a Berkeley mug but now that I have one, I love it
6. I would put very little on the refrigerator except for a few pictures and a magnet especially for grocery lists and a magnet especially for important documents that I need to notice, but unimportant enough to leave hanging around the kitchen
7. Ferns everywhere and depending on how well off I am, vases with flowers in them
8. My couch would have a throw so I could fall asleep when I watch tv
9. I like bar counters and bar stools and in my mind, I would sit on my bar stool with a cup of yogurt and granola and use my laptop (hopefully a better one by this point) in the mornings before going to work. (Oddly, I wrote "before going to the gym" before I checked my blog over. I guess I was thinking about life now)
10. Uncluttered bedroom with nothing but one of those low beds, a night stand with a lamp, and some sort of table
11. I would have counters in the bathroom, but if for some reason there is very little space, I would need a stand to put my clothes on when I shower
12. No souveneirs. I hate souveneirs
13. If I have a small backyard, I would like a little table and two chairs, even though I know I would probably never sit outside.
14. Venetian blinds
15. Mainly whiteish carpet except for obviously the kitchen and the bathroom
16. Shower in the bathroom that is hands-free and has a door - I hate shower curtains
17. A cute bath mat in the bathroom
18. Lots of stainless steel in the kitchen which seems kind of guyish
19. In one of those apartment looking condos
20. Next to a few good grocery stores, particularly Trader Joe's

Indicator of my boredom
I was so bored today that when one of my floormates said he will be bringing his Wii to school for 2nd semester, I almost shit myself. OMFG. I actually am so excited that I feel like I can't sleep. I'm too excited. I'll just end up lying in bed, imagining myself playing tennis (and losing horribly). BUT OMG. 2nd semester is going to be AWESOME. WII! WII! WII!!!
aznwalmartgurl8: what will you do until school starts?
nsaYnemothballs: umm probably nothing
nsaYnemothballs: wii-ing
nsaYnemothballs: igot a carrying case so i can bring it to the dorm yay
nsaYnemothballs: more distractions
aznwalmartgurl8: OMGGG
aznwalmartgurl8: ARE YO USEROUSSSFDKJSDKLFSDJFLSFD
aznwalmartgurl8: CAN I PLAY
aznwalmartgurl8: OMGGGG
aznwalmartgurl8: DO YOU HAVE TENNIS
nsaYnemothballs: yes
nsaYnemothballs: i do
aznwalmartgurl8: OMGGG
aznwalmartgurl8: LET ME PLAYYYY
In exactly one week I will be getting ready for the first day of a new semester. Time to list some lofty goals:
- Get straight A's in my classes (NOT A-'s unless the class is just ridiculous)
- Actually get the classes that I've been waitlisted for
- Befriend more people on my floor. Like the impenetrable white swim team
- Get together with people I already know more
- Be more proactive for my club
- Exercise a shitload (swim/elliptical/AB EXERCISES)
- Eat less (mmm yogurt parfait I want you NOW. Ice cream, you are my sworn enemy)
- Work and earn lots of money

Things I'd like to do...
If TV and school weren't my first priority, that is. I've probably made this list like 50 times in my life and they are generally the same thing but I'll just add to it every now and then
1. Surf
Why: It looks fun and I'd like to have a reason to go to the beach other than to take pictures and shop
Things holding me back: Inability to drive to the beach, not owning a surfboard or a wetsuit, not wanting to spend money on an instructor, tendency towards imbalance, not thin enough to prance around the beach
Likelihood: Extremely unlikely unless I rent a beach house with someone one day or go to Hawaii. And with my hate of vacations, this is not happening any time soon. Plus, at a certain age you can't really learn how to surf anymore, or you'll crack a hip
2. Cook healthy, delicious things
Why: So I can eat. And knowing how to cook things is pretty hot. I want to learn how to make delicious salads and then desserts and then bakery stuff like cakes and then Chinese foods like what my mom cooks and then other foods like lasagna.
Things holding me back: I need a kitchen, a pot, cooking oil, ingredients, the ability to turn on a stove
Likelihood: I probably won't start cooking until I get an apartment. But I also don't want to buy any kitchen materials until I'm rich and I can furnish my kitchen from Crate and Barrel because I don't want to have a bunch of Walmart crap lying around.
3. Knit
Why: Because then I can make my own clothes. Knitted gloves, knitted scarves, knitted sweaters, knitted jeans...
Things holding me back: Yarn, needles, and a teacher
Likelihood: I'll probably buy the materials one day, try to make a scarf, realize it's fugly as hell, and give up
4. Make my own soap
Why: Someone's blog mentioned this anad I think it sounds awesome. I would give soap as gifts
Things holding me back: Materials
Likelihood: Unlikely, until I get my own place. I can't imagine I would be excited to pay tons of money for ingredients to make soap that would have to sit around my house, if I could just spend a dollar for a perfectly usable bar of soap.
5. Drive on the freeway blasting music
Why: It's the best way to listen to music
Things holding me back: Fear of driving on the freeway, inability to judge distances
Likelihood: I think I could go my whole life without driving! If I don't have a car, I'll probably never get car insurance again and by the time I graduate, maybe I can just take the BART to work. But I'm sure I'll drive freeway some day
6.

My Dream Job
Realistic: Auditor at a Big4 firm located in SF
Why: It seems like the kind of job I'd actually enjoy, it's a stable market, it pays well, the major involves no science classes, I can travel for business, I like to wear dress shirts, I'd probably respect the people I'm working with
Difficulties: Getting chosen for a first interview, much less an actual position, for a top firm
Possible downfall: I become blind from staring at a computer monitor all day, or I get carpal tunnel syndrome. Considering I'm already practically blind, I really hope eye-swapping surgery becomes more advanced in the next few decades
Unrealistic: Celebrity via acting with an upcoming action movie
Why: By default, this means I'm pretty and thin, I can meet other celebrities, people would read my blog and post "I LOVE YOU, you're awesome" comments, if I were in an action film, I'd have my own personal trainer and consequently, really awesome abs
Difficulties: Lack of acting talent, lack of beauty, too fat for the camera, Asian, inability to memorize lines, unmarketable
Possible downfall: Whoring myself around Hollywood and getting a trashy reputation
Childhood: Architect
Why: I liked my Legos, I liked drawing lines with my ruler, I liked math
Difficulties: Inability to draw, you have to enter architecture programs extremely early in college, never taken a physics class, all the houses I drew as a kid were basically the same thing
Possible downfall: Having a mental breakdown during architecture class when I realize I have absolutely no talent or creativity
Slacker (if something terrible happened and I somehow ended up without a college education): Server at a cute little cafe that serves sandwiches and salads
Why: I can talk to random people, I can get free food, it's more relaxing than a busy restaurant, if a hot person comes in, I can flirt with them and say "this one's on me"
Difficulties: Inability to deal with customers who get angry at me
Possible downfall: Turning to Hooters for better tips
